Bears Put Brandon Marshall on Trade Block

Add yet another star-caliber wide receiver to a list of top-end players at that position expected to change teams this offseason.

According to a report by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Bears are exploring potential trade options for Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall.

Marshall, 30, is coming off a 2014 campaign that saw him record 61 receptions for 721 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games. It marked the first time since 2006 (Marshall’s rookie season) that the enigmatic five-time Pro Bowler had failed to reach the 1,000-yard plateau receiving.

After remaining quiet throughout most of his three-year tenure with Chicago, Marshall was behind a few different controversies in Chicago this past season. It remains to be seen if that’s a primary reason that the Bears put the star receiver on the block, but we have to believe it played somewhat of a role.

In addition to this, Alshon Jeffery appears ready to take over the team’s No. 1 receiving role. With $7.5 million becoming guaranteed to Marshall for the 2015 season on March 12th, we can expect any possible deal to take place within the next week.

In nine NFL seasons, Marshall has recorded 773 receptions for 9,771 yards and 65 touchdowns.
