Yankees Executives ‘Fuming’ That Alex Rodriguez Showed up to Work

Playing Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees brings a ton of scrutiny with it. Playing Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees as Alex Rodriguez brings even more scrutiny.

After showing up early at the team’s spring training complex in Tampa, there was reportedly at least one Yankees executive who is “fuming” over Rodriguez’s presence.

The unnamed executive—of course speaking on the condition of anonymity—had this to say to the NY Daily News.

He’s learned nothing. He’s the same old guy. He just did what he wanted to do.”

So apparently showing up for work early is frowned upon within the Yankees organization.

We fully understand that A-Rod rubs people the wrong way. Attempting to make a comeback after being suspended for a good portion of the 2014 season, the former MVP is trying to mend fences with the Yankees.

That doesn’t seem to be good enough for a franchise that would rather not have A-Rod around this season. For the veteran, it’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t proposition.

In no way is this an excuse for A-Rod’s past behavior. But if the Yankees aren’t fully prepared to move on, maybe they should let Rodriguez himself move on by releasing him, especially if it gets to the point where showing up early for spring training is somehow a bad thing
