LeBron James Upset his 10-Year Old Son is Being Recruited

LeBron James may be one of the greatest basketball players to step on the court, but this story focuses on his 10-year-old son, LeBron Jr.

The boy is legitimately seen as a superior talent among his age group, which shouldn’t be considered a surprise based on the athletic prowess of his father.

However, the Cleveland Cavaliers forward is not too happy that his 10-year-old boy is actually being recruited by college basketball programs (h/t ESPN).

Yeah, he’s already got some offers from colleges. It’s pretty crazy. It should be a violation. You shouldn’t be recruiting 10-year-old kids.

This has become somewhat of a trend around the recruiting community. We previously ran a story on Scout.com monitoring middle-school football players in their recruiting section.

The ESPN story linked above also focused on Connecticut basketball player Ryan Boatright committing to the school before he was in high school.

As James said, this should be a violation of recruiting rules. However, NCAA bylaws give schools somewhat of a pass as it relates to recruiting young kids.

Unfortunately, this is just the era that we are in right now.

The good news for LeBron Jr. is that his father is unlikely to let him take part in any of these recruiting overtures anytime soon.
