Giants Manager Bruce Bochy Undergoes Heart Procedure

The San Francisco Giants may be preparing to defend their World Series championship, but some pretty sobering news came out of Arizona on Thursday.

The team released a statement via Twitter indicating that manager Bruce Bochy underwent a heart procedure on Thursday after he experienced some discomfort.

Here’s the Giants statement in its entirety.

Following his physical yesterday (Wednesday), the Giants medical staff was monitoring Bruce Bochy’s heart after he experienced some discomfort.

This afternoon (Thursday), Bruce was admitted to the Scottsdale Healthcare Medical Center where doctors performed a medical procedure to insert two stents.

He is resting comfortably and will be released tomorrow (Friday). Any media inquiries should be directed to the Giants media relations staff.

The good news here is that Bochy seemed to be in a joking mood following the procedure.

While any procedure on the heart shouldn’t be taken lightly, it appears that Bochy will be just fine and ready to rejoin the team at some point soon.
