Derek Jeter Reportedly was Interested in Purchasing the Buffalo Bills

According to Tim Graham of the Buffalo News, retired New York Yankees’ shortstop Derek Jeter had interest in purchasing the Buffalo Bills.

Graham reported that it is not certain whether Jeter was looking to be the leader of a purchasing group or a minority partner. The Bills were sold after the death of sole owner Ralph Wilson. The price to acquire the team was a cool $1.4 billion, so Jeter likely would have been interested in shareholder status.

The report also indicates that new owners, Terry and Kim Pegula, did not know of Jeter’s interest. Along with Jeter, other well-known celebrities Donald Trump and Jon Bon Jovi also had interest in buying the Bills.

Jeter has formerly expressed his interest in owning a major league baseball team, and the desire to purchase a football team appears to have crossed his mind too. Retiring after 19 seasons in the Majors, Jeter is obviously looking for another outlet to fill his down time.
