Colts’ Matt Overton Gathers Twitter Followers to Raise Money for Children’s Hospital

Indianapolis Colts’ long snapper Matt Overton regularly visits children’s hospitals while participating in training camp.

In his latest effort to raise money, Overton committed to donating a dollar for every new follower he acquired on Twitter Sunday night to the Ball State University marathon.

Proceeds from the marathon will go to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Over the course of the evening, Overton gathered about 4,000 new followers which means he will donate nearly $4,000 to the marathon that he will be emceeing this weekend.

On the donation effort, Overton had this to share..

I’ve always been a Riley supporter, especially when colleges do their dance marathon. [Ball State] was trying to hit a target of $30,000 in 24 hours. Just my way to make it fun and give back to a great cause.

This is a pretty awesome story and a good deed by Overton. Maybe we can hear more of these stories instead of more DUI arrests and other off-field issues moving forward this offseason.
