Seahawks General Manager: I kind of Love Marshawn Lynch’s ‘Act’

Seattle Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch may be rubbing some people the wrong way with his tight-lipped two-word responses to the media and provocative gestures on the field.

Someone who is not bothered with Lynch’s unorthodox way of communicating is Seahawks’ general manager John Schneider.

Schneider shared some pretty cool comments about Lynch when asked about the running back’s mentality (via The News Tribune).

No, I kind of love his act.

I mean, he’s under contract next year. He’s a warrior. Goes out there every weekend and lays it on the line. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a better running back in the National Football League.

It was reported earlier this month that the Seahawks were open to bringing Lynch back for 2015 despite earlier rumors that 2014 would likely be Lynch’s last year with the team. Standing to earn $5 million next season with incentives that could get him to $7 million, it sounds like Lynch having the general manager in his back pocket is a start.

Lynch has put up nothing but phenomenal numbers in his four years with the Seahawks, racking up a total 5,357 rushing yards and 48 touchdowns on the ground. Also a key player in Seattle’s receiving game, Lynch has totaled 147 receptions, 1,091 yards and eight touchdowns through the air during that span.

With the general manager backing his quirks, Lynch certainly sits in a comfy position to plead his case for that bigger paycheck he was hinting at in the offseason.
