Report: Celtics Close to Trading Jeff Green to the Memphis Grizzlies

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports! is reporting that the Boston Celtics are close to sending forward Jeff Green to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for veteran Tayshaun Prince and a first-round pick.

Green, a top-five pick in the 2007 draft, has played the last three-plus seasons in Boston. He is averaging 17.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game this season. It would be a solid move for a Grizzlies team that is in need of a true small forward. At 25-10, Memphis is looking to remain within shouting distance of the Golden State Warriors for the top record in the Western Conference.

As it relates to the Celtics, this is nothing less than a fire-sale for general manager Danny Ainge and company. The team moved All-Star Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks last month and are attempting to acquire as many future picks as possible. If this trade goes through, it means that the Celtics will have 11 first-round picks over the next four drafts.

Update: Less than an hour before the Celtics game in Indiana, it appears that Green has left the court during pre-game workouts. This mean that a trade is likely imminent.
