Patriots’ Devin McCourty on Deflate-Gate: “We Don’t Care”

The New England Patriots are beyond over it as far as the deflated football accusation that evolved after Sunday’s AFC 45-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The latest Patriot to speak up about the controversy is defensive back Devin McCourty (via CSN New England).

We don’t care about it. We put so much work in to going out there and giving ourselves a chance to win and to go out there and win big games that we won Sunday. Whatever they want to create, that’s for everyone else. We don’t care.

While the NFL investigates if deflated footballs, which would be easier to throw, catch and kick, were used by the Patriots Sunday, the players are simply moving on from the accusation and preparing for the Super Bowl.

It seems there is always a cloud of controversy being created these days when it comes to the Patriots winning. Before the AFC playoff game, the Patriots were accused of using ineligible receivers in the divisional matchup against Baltimore.

The Patriots are where they are today because their team is just good and they’re outplaying the majority of their competition as reflected by their stellar 12-4 record. Should anything legitimate actually come out of the NFL’s investigation, the potential punishment won’t come into effect until well after the Super Bowl is played.
