Marisa Tomei Calls Bill Belichick’s Explanation Pretty Darn Believeable

In a press conference on Saturday, New England Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick had several very creative things to say about how the team’s footballs may have became under-inflated.

One bizarre thing that really stuck out was this comment cited from the classic movie “My Cousin Vinny” (via NFL.com).

I’m not a scientist. I’m not an expert in footballs. I’m not an expert in football measurements. I’m just telling you what I know. I would not say I’m Mona Lisa Vito of the football world, as she was in the car-expertise area.

The Mona Lisa Vito comment refers back to the character that actress Marisa Tomei played in the 1992 movie.

Tomei was a call-in guest on Rich Eisen’s show on Monday. She answered some questions about Belichick after admitting that she had to catch up on the whole Deflate-gate issue.

Tomei stated that Belichick’s deflated football explanation was “pretty darn believable.” She also indicated that the coach “underrated himself” as an expert on the said topic.

When asked if she thought that Mona Lisa could help Brady and Belichick out of their dilemma like she helped Vinny’s cousin, Tomei stated..

That’s a lot of pressure on Mona Lisa. I think she’d want to because, you know, who doesn’t love him? But, I don’t know, ultimately maybe, you know, she’s a New Yorker. So she’s a Jets fan.

I don’t know. It depends how many other cases are in the queue, perhaps. But he was definitely, you know, ‘dead on balls accurate,’ as she would say. One more moment, I know they have more important challenges at hand, as he well said.

The whole thing of how Tomei became involved is quite funny. She admitted that after she flew in from Miami that her phone was just starting to light up with the Vinny commotion.

Belichick and Brady are going to need more than a sharp-tongued Italian to get them out of this situation, unfortunately.
