Green Bay Packers were “Freaked Out” about Noise at CenturyLink

The Green Bay Packers got a major taste of the noise at CenturyLink Field when they played the Seattle Seahawks in the 2014 season opener. It was a good initiation for rookies or players who hadn’t yet faced the thunderous sounds of the stadium to get a feel for how incredibly loud the noise really is.

When asked about how the noise impacted Green Bay, fullback John Kuhn shared this (via NFL.com).

That kickoff opener, that Week 1, it’s probably as loud as that place has been all season long. That place was rocking. It’s a tremendous place to play. We can look back on that and see some of the things we didn’t do as well, and learn from those and make sure we don’t repeat the same mistakes.

Left tackle David Bakhtiari, who had no idea about how loud CenturyLink could get, thought his teammates must have been exaggerating when they warned about the stadium.

I’ll be honest, these guys were really freaking out about the noise, and it’s all cracked up as it is. I had never been in that environment. So I was like, OK, how loud can it be compared to an away game? I’ve been in loud stadiums, OK. You don’t understand So now that I’ve been there, I have an idea. I have first-hand experience, and it’s not passed down through narrative.

Now all the Packers can do is prepare for perhaps even more noise than they heard in Week 1 as the 12th man certainly will want to make things as unbearably noisy as possible as the two teams compete for the NFC title. There won’t be any time for freaking out on Sunday, Packers.
