White Sox Sign David Robertson to a Four-Year, $46M Contract

The Chicago White Sox appear to be going full in. Fresh off signing former Washington Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche, it appears that the White Sox have nabbed late-inning reliever David Robertson on a four-year, $46 million contract.

It’s a mighty high price to pay for a reliever that’s recorded a total of 47 career saves, but Robertson has the nastiness to excel in a closer role for an extended period of time. He has struck out 12 batters per nine innings throughout a stellar career that has also seen him post a 2.81 ERA.

Robertson tallied 39 saves with a 3.03 ERA and 1.06 WHIP this past season.

With the addition of Zach Duke in free agency coupled with the return of Jake Petricka, Chicago now has a solid back end of the bullpen moving forward. This signing also comes on the heels of an imminent deal that will send starter Jeff Samardzija to the White Sox from Oakland.
