Report: Jim Harbaugh’s Decision Down to Michigan and the Raiders

In news that might not be too shocking, ESPN’s Adam Schefter just reported at halftime of Monday Night Football that San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh will likely choose between the Oakland Raiders and Michigan Wolverines after the season.

Speculation has been rampant over the past week or so that Harbaugh will decide to head back to college with his Alma mater. But if the successful head coach decides to stay in the NFL, it will reportedly be with the Raiders.

Reports surfaced over the weekend that San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York has decided to part ways with Harbaugh shortly after the team’s season finale against the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.

And in a move that could be swift, it’s possible that Harbaugh will have another job by midweek.

If Harbaugh does stay in the NFL, it’s likely that San Francisco and Oakland will work out some sort of trade, a deal that could happen within a day or two from the end of both teams season.

The reason behind this is that Raiders owner Mark Davis will not want to risk Harbaugh hitting the open market should San Francisco fire him, at which point a more attractive head-coaching destination could open up for Harbaugh.
