Mike Shanahan Interested in Coaching Next Season

One of the most successful head coaches in recent history might be interested in returning to the sidelines in 2015. Former Los Angeles Raiders, Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan indicated to ESPN’s Chris Berman on Sunday morning that he hasn’t ruled out a return to the NFL.

Well, one thing that I want to do is win,” The Super Bowl winning head coach said when prompted with a question about returning to the NFL “So it’s not just coaching but going to the right organization that will make a strong commitment. There’s only one team that’s happy at the end of the year and that’s the team that wins the Super Bowl.

Shanahan was relieved of his duties with the Redskins following a three-win 2013 campaign. The 62-year old has 20 years of NFL head coaching experience and won two Super Bowls with the Denver Broncos.

And despite some struggles in D.C., Shanahan is still 12th on the all-time list with 170 career victories.

The San Francisco 49ers, who are likely going to part ways with Jim Harbaugh following the team’s season finale next week, seem to be a logical fit. Shanahan was the team’s offensive coordinator from 1992-1994.
