Seahawks DT’ Brandon Mebane out with Hamstring Injury

This might not seem like a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but Brandon Mebane has been an important part of what the Seattle Seahawks have built on the defensive side of the ball.

Mebane left the second quarter of Seattle’s win over the New York Giants on Sunday with what looked to be a hamstring injury and did not return.

It now appears the veteran defensive tackle, who has started 110 games in seven-plus seasons with Seattle, will miss some time with this injury.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll had this to say about the injury on Monday.

He has a really legit hamstring pull. He’s out for a while. We will find out more later today.

With Seattle slated to take on a Kansas City Chiefs team that boasts the two-headed monster of Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis this upcoming weekend, this injury could very well have a major impact in the team’s hopes of picking up ground on the first-place Arizona Cardinals.

It stands to reason that free-agent acquisition Kevin Williams will replace Mebane in the lineup. While Williams has a track record of success in the NFL, it remains to be seen just how long he can hold up over the course of an entire game at the ripe age of 34.

Depending on how long Mebane is out, Seattle could find it difficult to stop opposing running games moving forward. After their matchup with Kansas City in Week 11, the Seahawks take on the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers to wrap up the month of November.
