In an absolutely absurd piece of news, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is reporting that the Miami Marlins and outfielder Giancarlo Stanton are on verge of agreeing to a MLB record 13-year, $325 million contract.
#marlins, stanton closing in on $325M, 13-year deal. expected to have no-trade and opt-out. story up soon on @CBSSportsMLB

It’s hard to actually understand the amount of money Stanton, 25, is going to make up until what would be the end of what the Marlins hope to be a Hall of Fame career.
Stanton hit .287 with 37 homers and 105 RBI’s last season. He’s considered one of the best young players in baseball. He didn’t drive in more than 87 runs in any of his four seasons prior to 2014. This deal is based on the production we saw from Stanton last year and what many consider to be the best set of tools in baseball, right there with Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels.
