Report: Alabama and Florida State Discussing 2017 Season Opener

Two of the most successful college football programs in history and the two most successful programs in recent history. So why shouldn’t Florida State and Alabama open up against one another? That’s what has the two schools discussing the potential of meeting up to open the 2017 season.

According to both The Palm Beach Post and the Tallahassee Democrat, Florida State and Alabama are having discussions about opening the 2017 campaign in Atlanta.

The last time these two teams met was in 2007, a game that Florida State won 21-14.

These two schools have combined to win four of the past five national championships, but have not met in the big game during that span. Alabama ranks first and Florida State third in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings released on Tuesday, so that could very well change this upcoming January.
