Dante Fowler Jr. Declares for NFL Draft via Social Media

University of Florida defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. took to Twitter on Tuesday not only to air his frustration over the exit of head coach Will Muschamp at the end of the season.

He also declared for the 2015 NFL draft.

Fowler’s decision isn’t too surprising in and of itself. The 6’3″, 277-pound junior is widely considered a top prospect in the 2015 NFL draft and likely would have declared even if Muschamp wasn’t leaving following this season.

He leads the team with 10 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks through the first 10 games of the season.

Seen as a dominant pass-rush threat, Fowler is more suited to play outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme at the next level. It doesn’t take me to tell you just how valued that position is in the NFL.

This move could also be an indication that other Florida underclassmen might make the decision to join Muschamp in exiting the program. Fowler himself originally committed to Florida State as a five-star recruit back in 2012 prior to making the decision to go to Gainesville. He has since indicated that Muschamp’s presence at Florida played a major role in that decision.
