The Chicago Bears are 3-6 and four games out of first place heading into Week 11. Needless to say, this team is going to need a miracle to even contend for a playoff spot moving forward.
A season that started out with high expectations seems to now be a season in which the Bears will be playing out the string. And as he has been throughout his entire career, Brandon Marshall isn’t afraid to tell the public what he thinks about the state of his team (h/t CBS Sports).
When you are looking at 3-6, there’s not much hope,” Marshall said on Inside the NFL on Tuesday. “There’s not much confidence. That’s just the reality of this. It has nothing to do with the Chicago Bears. It’s just the reality of life.”
Chicago has lost three consecutive games by a combined 83 points. And in reality, it hasn’t been just bad…it’s been historically bad.
Following their 55-14 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, the Bears became the first team since the Rochester Jeffersons in 1923 to yield 50-plus points in consecutive games.
It’s even gotten to the point where fans in Chicago have started to burn Jay Cutler jerseys.

For a team that is accustomed to contending for a division title, the idea of playing out the string has to be foreign to the Bears. While some may call into question Marshall’s comments, that’s probably where his thought process is coming from. This also means that we are going to learn a lot about some of Chicago’s veterans in the final seven games of the season.
Will this team start to compete or will it throw in the towel? As it relates to Marshall, we shouldn’t be too worried about that. He’s a passionate player on and off the field, something that might help Chicago remain competitive throughout the remainder of the year.
