WATCH: UCLA Beats CAL on Controversial Call

With his team down by two points and driving, California quarterback Jared Goff took a shot down the field from UCLA’s 36 yard line. It might not have been the best decision considering the team was about five yards from being in field goal range, but that’s not necessarily the point here.

UCLA defensive back Marcus Rios made a play on the ball and seemingly bobbled it out of bounds for an incomplete pass. Except, what has been horrendous Pac-12 officiating this season reared its ugly head once again. The officials called it an interception and confirmed the call on instant replay.

Here’s a Vine of the play.

In absolutely no world did Rios actually gain possession of the football and get a foot down.

And while former NFL Head of Officiating seems to think this was a catch, video evidence shows otherwise.

By virtue of both the questionable throw by Goff and a horrible call by the officials, UCLA defeated California 36-34 in this heated rivalry game.
