This is probably good news for Dallas Cowboys fans. With the team going strong at 5-1 thus far this season, most of the talk surrounding the Cowboys has been on the field.
And that’s a breath of fresh air for the team and its fan base.
Now months removed from Dallas passing up on Johnny Manziel to select former Notre Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin in the 2014 NFL draft, it appears that owner Jerry Jones has been told not to mention the unmentionable (via CBS Sports).
Well, I don’t know how that’s relevant,” Jones said shortly after the Cowboys beat the Seahawks in Seattle, thanks largely to a solid performance from 34-year-old incumbent quarterback Tony Romo. “I’m really not so sure I’m ready to admit a mis-thought. It is not relevant, and I really have had some very stern, succinct instructions not to mention Johnny anymore from people who count, let me put it like that.
Jones may very well still be fond of the current Cleveland Browns signal caller, but it’s readily apparent that the team made the right decision to go with Martin in the first round of the draft this past May. The rookie guard has been among the best all-around interior linemen in the NFL thus far this season. And as many have pointed out recently, the Cowboys offensive line is one of the primary reasons that they boast the best record in the NFL.
