Georgia Running Back Todd Gurley Suspended Indefinitely

University of Georgia running back and potential 2015 first-round pick Todd Gurley has been suspended indefinitely by the school during an ongoing investigation into “an alleged violation of NCAA rules” (via Georgiadogs.com).

Georgia head coach Mark Richt had this to say about the suspension.

“I’m obviously very disappointed,” said UGA head football coach Mark Richt. “The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri.”

The junior running back has put up 826 total yards and is averaging 8.2 yards per rush attempt on the season. He’s considered an under-the-radar candidate for the Heisman Trophy.

At 4-1 on the season and heading into a matchup against Missouri on Saturday, the 13th-ranked Bulldogs are going to miss Gurley big time.

It remains to be seen what the alleged violations are and just how long Gurley will be suspended.

Update (6:05 PM ET): The alleged violation is potentially for accepting extra benefits.
