It sure does look like Florida State will not take any action against quarterback Jameis Winston prior to its big game against Notre Dame on Saturday evening.
Addressing the Winston autograph situation for the first time publicly, Florida State had this to say.
Essentially, Florida State doesn’t see any real evidence (as of yet) that Winston took cash to sign these authenticated items. While that may very well be a pie-in-the-sky mentality from the school, it’s the idea that there really isn’t any evidence right now that Winston violated NCAA rules.
Florida State will take on the fifth-ranked Irish in Tallahassee in the biggest game for each team thus far this season. The winner will likely end up as one of the four playoff teams vying for the national championship in January. And having Winston under center is vital to Florida State’s success.
