Yankees’ Brandon McCarthy Throws ‘Immaculate Inning’

This is something you don’t see every day. Recently acquired New York Yankees starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy struck out the side in the sixth inning against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday evening.

In the process, the veteran became only the fifth pitcher in the heralded history of the franchise to accomplish this feat on just NINE pitches.

While the New York isn’t going to earn a trip to the playoffs this year, the the acquisition of McCarthy was a great move for the team. Including the win Wednesday night, McCarthy is 7-4 with a 2.54 ERA in 13 starts since the trade.
