Wes Welker, Others, Remain on Suspended List

On Friday, the National Football League Players Association had agreed on a new drug policy. In fact, the NFLPA released a statement on the agreement.

Unfortunately for nearly two dozen players currently on the suspended list, the NFL and NFLPA are still ironing out some minor details in the agreement, which means the likes of Wes Welker and Orlando Scandrick will not see action in Week 2.

Despite the union’s approval, the league didn’t sign off on the new drug policy by the 4 PM ET deadline for 53-man rosters to be set for Sunday’s slate of games. This means that Welker and Scandrick, among others will have to wait for another week to suit up.

Once enacted, the new policy will increase the threshold for positive marijuana tests and include testing for HGH for the first time.
