Report: Owners Losing Patience with Roger Goodell

Bleacher Report insider Jason Cole is indicating that owners and executives around the NFL are becoming impatient with Roger Goodell’s silence on the domestic violence issue that is sweeping through the league.

One owner and a couple executives told Cole that they would like to see Goodell “more upfront, take more of the blame (publicly). And they would like to see him take questions from a wide swap of the media, not just a one-on-one sit down.”

Cole went on to indicate that there is a lot of desire to protect the league. That’s been one of the major criticisms of Goodell and Co. throughout what has now become a widespread scandal that could potentially impact the popularity of a sport that remains the most popular in the United States.

In addition to the Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson situations, Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was arrested on assult charges in two different incidents, one involving a 27-year-old woman and the other his 18-month old son.

In a situation that has now transformed to the front pages of newspapers all around the country, Goodell needs to step up and take some heat publicly. And now, it appears that at least some within his “inner circle” are coming out and indicating that this is exactly what he needs to do.
