Report: Adrian Peterson not in Vikings Future

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Sunday morning that sources from within the NFL believe Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is in denial when it comes to his future with the team and the league in general.

Adrian Peterson still has not come to grips with the prospect that his 2014 season has all but officially ended and that his future in the NFL is uncertain, multiple sources have told ESPN.

In addition to the fact that commissioner Roger Goodell will throw the book at Peterson once his legal situation is settled, the running back reportedly has no future with the only team he has suited up for.

The Vikings do not foresee Peterson in their future, according to team sources, following a botched attempt to activate the running back this past Monday only to reverse course Wednesday by placing him on the commissioner’s exempt list.

Multiple sources close to the situation told Mortensen that Peterson “just doesn’t get it.” The All-Pro is pushing for a quick resolution to child abuse case in hopes of being able to suit up this season. It really doesn’t take a genius to come to the conclusion that Peterson’s 2014 season (and most likely his 2015 season) is over.

If I were Peterson’s lawyer, I would tell his client to worry more about these serious charges and less about his future in the NFL. There are just too many factors going against Peterson in the league for him to realistically believe the he has any type of short-term future in the NFL
