Earlier on Tuesday it was reported that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had some harsh words for cornerback Morris Claiborne, who is struggling big time in his third NFL season.
Now comes this little bit of information from ESPN indicating that the former first-round pick stormed out of the team’s facility on Tuesday after learning that he was no longer the starting cornerback.
Cornerback Morris Claiborne skipped the Dallas Cowboys’ walk-through practice and angrily left the club’s Valley Ranch training facility Tuesday after being informed that Orlando Scandrick was replacing him in the starting lineup, multiple sources said.
The Cowboys could fine Claiborne for missing the practice or conduct detrimental to the team. Claiborne has started two of the Cowboys three games amid Scandrick’s 2-game suspension to start the season.
To say that Claiborne has been a disappointment thus far in his young career would be an understatement. While he did make a big play in the Cowboys comeback against St. Louis on Sunday, the former LSU standout found himself beat pretty much all game long.
Claiborne himself even said that he “stunk it up” against the Rams on Sunday.
This latest incident comes after talk around the football world that Claiborne seems to have lost confidence in himself, which is never a good sign for a cornerback in the NFL.
As mentioned above, Orlando Scandrick will start in Claiborne’s stead.
It remains to be seen exactly what action the Cowboys might take, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the team attempts to move him between now and the trade deadline.
