Matt Cassel has ‘Several’ Fractured Bones in Foot

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel left the game with foot injury in the second quarter of their loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. And news from the Vikings indicate that the veteran suffered “several bone fractured” in his foot.

Rookie Teddy Bridgewater took over for Cassel and completed 12-of-20 passes for 150 yards in the 20-9 loss.

Based on this injury, it would seem that Bridgewater will be under center for the Vikings moving forward this season. It remains to be seen just how long Cassel will be out of action, but Zimmer did indicate that Bridgewater will be the starting quarterback moving forward (via NFL.com).
