Dion Jordan Suspended Again

Miami Dolphins pass rusher Dion Jordan saw his suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy lifted today when the NFL and NFLPA finalized a new drug policy.

Shortly after Jordan’s suspension was lifted, he was suspended another four games for a violation of the substance abuse policy.

Jordan had this to say about his latest violation in a statement (via National Football Post).

I am currently undergoing treatment to address my situation,” Jordan said. “I am working hard to become a better man and to make better choices in the future. I am especially looking forward to returning to the team. I also want to thank my family, Coach Philbin and the Miami Dolphins organization for their support.

Treatment might very well be a good decision here for Jordan, as he obviously has some type of drug issue.

Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin indicated that the team plans on showing support for the embattled youngster.

We were informed that Dion’s suspension for performance enhancing drugs was lifted, however, we also learned that he has been suspended four games for violating the Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances. While we were disappointed to learn of this result, we support Dion for proactively taking steps to voluntarily seek treatment to better himself. We will continue to support and work with him as he takes advantage of all available resources during this time

The former No. 3 overall pick struggled making much of an impact as a rookie last season, recording just two sacks in limited playing time. He’s the first player to be suspended under the new NFL drug policy and it came mere hours after being reinstated.
