Tigers GM Sends Billy Beane Funny Text After Acquiring David Price

Who said friendly one-upmanship was gone from the game of baseball? Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane acquired Jon Lester from the Boston Red Sox in a deal that included Yoenis Cespedes on Thursday morning. At that time, most of us figured Beane had pulled off the two biggest trades of the season (A’s also acquired Jeff Samardzija in early July).

Unfortunately for Beane and the A’s, Dave Dombrowski and the Detroit Tigers pulled the trigger on David Price mere minutes before the 4 PM ET trade deadline. At which point, the Tigers general manager had this to say to Beane via text.

Probably the best troll text from general manager to general manager in the history of baseball. Fortunately for the Tigers, Beane didn’t have five minutes to pull off a trade for Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale. After all, who the hell are we to question him?

If MLB has any sense of what is right in the world, the A’s and Tigers will face off in the ALCS this upcoming October. Let’s all will it to happen right now.
