LeBron James, Fittest Male Athlete in the World?

Sports Illustrated just came out with a piece that ranked the 50 fittest male athletes in the world. Its criteria was simple. Using a 40-point system, SI focused on speed, strength, endurance and agility. Not surprisingly, there were a ton of NFL players on the list.

What is surprising is the fact that no NFL player ranked in the top four with Dez Bryant coming in the highest at fifth overall. New Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James topped the list with soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo coming in at two and track star Usain Bolt ranking third.

James ranking first on this list shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. He’s proven over and over again that he is among the best athletes to ever step foot on Earth. That point is really hard to deny unless you bought some stock in the fact that he cramped up during Game 1 of the NBA finals against the San Antonio Spurs. And if you did, we feel sorry for you.

Joining James on the list were fellow NBA players: Serge Ibaka (seventh), Blake Griffin (14th), Ray Allen (30th), Nate Robinson (33rd) and Dwight Howard (36th).

The NFL led all professional sports leagues with 17 players on the list. Joining Bryant were San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
