Where was New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick?
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police in North Carolina, a ‘camera-toting’ drone flew into the airspace at Bank of America Stadium during a Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs preseason game back on August 17th (via Charlotte Observer).
In a hilarious blurb from the original report, the Charlotte Observer concluded that the “invasion of Panther airspace is banned by both the NFL and FAA.”
Someone might want to tell Drew Brees about this law before the New Orleans Saints take on Carolina this season.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy had this to say about the incident.
We have league wide policies that prohibit any type of drone in parking lots or in stadiums. We are closely monitoring this issue with our clubs.
The man that was operating the drone was detained and released a brief time later. Accordingo to the police, the investigation was handed over to the FAA.
Okay. There are so many different jokes and puns we could come up with here.
Was Cam Newton the operator of the drone? Is it possible that he decided to really take the Superman role to a new level?
Were the Patriots taping the Panthers preseason action in preparation for their matchup with the team a week later? There is precedent for this. And the proof might very well be in the pudding here. New England defeated Carolina 30-7 in that game.
Maybe Bane was checking out a stadium to destroy after officials in Gotham caught on to his plan to destroy a stadium in that city.
In any event, drone’s normally don’t find their way in the protected airspace above NFL stadiums. Something has to be going on here. My money is on the evil genius that is Bill Belichick.
