ESPN Suspends Stephen A. Smith For a Week

ESPN might have taken it’s time addressing the comments Stephen A. Smith made last week regarding domestic violence, but the four-letter word has come down on Smith.

According to a press release by ESPN, Smith was suspended for a week.

ESPN announced today that Stephen A. Smith will not appear on First Take or ESPN Radio for the next week. He will return to ESPN next Wednesday.

In reality, this amounts to nothing more than a slap on the wrist for Smith, who drew widespread criticism for indicating that women play roles in domestic violence situations by provoking men.

At the very least, this shows ESPN isn’t completely out of touch with public sentiment. Though, it must be noted that the “sports leader” has suspended other reproters for much less.
