Phoenix Suns forward Channing Frye might not be the biggest name potentially headed to free agency once it gets going next month, but he’s going to be an extremely valuable commodity. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Frye is likely to opt out of his final year with Phoenix and choose free agency.

Among the teams said to be interested in Frye should he opt out are the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. Both have a need for a “stretch four,” as Stein put it. Golden States primary target at that valuable position is Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Love, but those talks have recently hit somewhat of a snag.

Frye averaged 11.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for a surprising Suns team last year. He’s the type of player who would be a valuable addition to the bench for contending teams around the NBA. You can bank on the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls, among many other teams, to also show some level of interest in him.
