Blue Jays Place Brett Cecil on 15 Day DL, Recall Steve Delabar

Last Friday, left-handed relief pitcher, Brett Cecil exited last Friday’s game in the eighth inning against Baltimore with groin tightness, according to RotoWorld.com. Cecil understandingly wanted to avoid being placed on the disabled list, but the 15 day trip was inevitable with similar injuries in the past.

In 32 games this season the 27 year-old has accumulated a 0-3 record, with three saves in 26.1 innings pitched. He also has a 3.76 ERA and 1.71 WHIP under his belt.

The Blue Jays recalled 30 year-old Steve Delabar from Triple-A Buffalo, however his ERA is rather high, standing at 4.86 in 25 innings thus far.

It will be interesting to see how Delabar performs, however with Cecil being shaky on the mound this season, Steve could easily make himself comfortable in the bullpen.
