Show Richard Sherman the money! The self-proclaimed, “best corner in the NFL,” Sherman now expects the top cornerback pay to accompany his title. A long-term contract extension is in the works for the 26 year-old, 2011 fifth-round draft pick out of Stanford.

All signs would indicate this is about to happen. Per NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport, specific terms have not been agreed upon, but it is likely the dollar amount will surpass the $12 million of cornerback Darrelle Revis makes annually and the $26 million guaranteed to newly signed Broncos Aqib Talib.
If the money goes his way, just don’t call Sherman the “doughboy,” unless you want him to go all Michael Crabtree on you.
Too bad Sherman, who tipped the interception of Colin Kaepernick’s bomb in the conference playoffs, wasn’t around at Los Angeles International Airport a couple of weeks ago when Aldon Smith was tossing around his bomb.
If the contract negotiations work out for Sherman, let’s hope he lives up to such a huge raise from his current salary of $1,431,000.
